BREWTON, AL - D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital recognized the dietary department staff by celebrating those who often work behind the scene. The dietary department promotes patient health and well-being by providing quality nutrition and education. The dietary staff plans, prepares, and serves nutritious and appetizing food to hospital patients, staff & visitors. They also provide dietary education and serve as a resource for dietary concerns.

"Throughout the year, healthcare foodservice professionals work to provide nutritious meals and caring service to patients and visitors," said Chris Griffin, hospital administrator.

The importance of excellent nutrition has been established and documented, but it is even more critical to those individuals in healthcare facilities. The dedicated individuals who provide food and nutrition services in healthcare at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital are just another part of the continuum of care.

"In food service you interact with physicians, employees and patients. We want to take care of everyone and treat them right. Nobody wants to go to the hospital. Typically, people are here due to circumstances beyond their control. Sometimes it's a terminal illness. We have to do our part to make the experience the best it can be," stated Ashley Bunnell, hospital dietary manager.

The hospital's HR department chose a Luau theme for the event. D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital dietary staff members attended a luncheon in their honor.
