PRN Heart & Vascular Sonographer
(1) PRN/On Call position available

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Must demonstrate competency in ultrasound by receiving one of the following credentials in vascular ultrasound technology:

Graduate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

1. Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) provided by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (Preferred)
2. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) provided by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)(Preferred)
3. Vascular Sonographer (VS) provided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Sonography (ARRT)(Preferred) (S).
Must maintain 30 continuing education units triennially.

Special Requirements:
1. Must have full mental and physical capabilities.
2. Must demonstrate such qualities as tact, good judgement, honesty, self-confidence, understanding, sympathy, compassion, and the ability to interact well with others.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to walk/stand continually during all phases of patient care
2. Must be able to assist with pulling patients up in bed and rolling from side to side.
3. Must be able to assist with transferring patient from bed to stretcher, etc...

DUTIES & TASKS:
1. Echocardiograms (3,4,5)
2. Stress Echocardiograms (3,4,5)
3. Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms (3,4,5)
4. Carotid Ultrasounds (4,5)
5. Arterial Ultrasounds (4,5)
6. ABI with & without exercise (4,5)
7. Venous Ultrasounds (4,5)
8. Aorta Ultrasounds (4,5)
9. Help Radiology Ultrasound department with procedures
as needed
10. All other duties as assigned

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follow proper procedure for checking physician=s
orders and initiating procedures.
2. Review patients medical record.
3. Record procedures and patients response in the
patients medical record.
4. Report any adverse reactions to the nurse or
physician and the Cardiopulmonary supervisor.
5. Do patient charges and maintain department records.
6. Follow infection control and safety procedures.
7. Attend in services and department meetings.
8. Participate in performance improvement activities
and assists in improving the performance improvement
indicators.
9. Attend fire and disaster drills.
10. Use equipment properly.
11. Follow all procedures and adhere to all policies as
outlined in the Cardiopulmonary procedure and policy
books.
12. Adheres to the Standards of Performance and Hospital
Employee Handbook.
13. Assumes a pro-active approach with co-workers,
nurses, physicians and staff from other departments
in facilitating communication about patient care.
14. Is compliant with requirements by JCAHO and other
accrediting agencies.

All other duties/skills and qualifications will be discussed at time of interview.
