BREWTON, AL - Justin Cole has been named director of D.W. McMillan EMS beginning November 1, and current director, Judy Kirby, announces her retirement. D.W. McMillan EMS offers emergency paramedic and EMT response to area citizens in coordination with county E911.

""We are pleased to be able to announce that Justin Cole has been selected as D.W. McMillan EMS director,"" Chris Griffin, D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital administrator said. ""Justin will be assuming the role of leading a highly-skilled team of EMT's to respond to our community's needs.""

Cole, who is already employed with D.W. McMillan EMS, has been on staff since 2008. He also serves in many volunteer capacities in the community with Ridge Road Volunteer Fire Department, Escambia County Fire and Rescue Squad and East Brewton Police. ""I am excited to begin my role as director of D.W. McMillan EMS,"" stated Cole. ""I look forward to continuing the level of service and care set by the example of Mrs. Kirby.""

Kirby, an employee of D.W. McMillan EMS since 1992 is looking forward to spending time with her great grandchild and enjoying the next stage in life. She plans on growing a vegetable garden and working in her flowerbeds as well.

""I'm excited to begin the next chapter of my life,"" stated Kirby. ""I'm going to miss working with all of my co-workers and wish them nothing but the best.""

Cole has a degree in emergency medical services from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, Ala.
